Promotion – Doug Brenneman
Congratulations to Doug Brenneman on his promotion from Project Engineer to Project Manager!
Doug started at Landau in 2014 as a Project Engineer and quickly became an asset to the company. He transitioned into the Estimating department for a time where he gained an understanding of the preconstruction process. This further strengthened his skills when he returned to project engineering and now enhances his abilities as a Project Manager. Doug has assisted on some of Landau’s largest projects, including the $23M Bishop Michael J. Bransfield Continuous Care Center, the $15M United Hospital Center Orthopaedic and Spine Center, the $7M Robert Morris University School of Nursing, and various others.
Welcome Randy Krueger
Landau Building Company is pleased to welcome Randy Krueger as Estimator.
Randy is joining Landau’s estimating team. He brings 15 years of experience as a cost estimator and project manager for commercial construction. Having worked for several construction companies around the United States and estimating projects up to $500 million, he comprehends all aspects of the construction process from preconstruction to project closeout.

We are happy to announce the promotion of three members of our Landau team:

Jen has worked nearly every position, including estimator, project engineer and project manager. She will continue to manage a major portion of Landau’s projects.
2017 LBC Customer Appreciation Shoot
Our 13th annual Customer Appreciation Shoot was held on Friday, September 22, 2017, at the Millvale Sportsmen’s Club. Proceeds from the shoot, including donations and raffles, benefited the Passavant Hospital Foundation, a local organization we proudly support. We were gifted with another beautiful day, sunny and eighty degrees, and, of course, great company. We also had some really great raffle items this year, so a big thank you to everyone who donated: AG Mauro Company, Allegheny Country Club, Blumling & Gusky, Carl Taylor & Sons, Construction Tool Services, Deborrah Beck Consulting, DeWALT Service Center, Golden Promotions, Houston Starr Company, Ida Yeager Sales, Interior Supply, Paul Lumber & Supply, RAM Acoustical Corporation, Ruthrauff Sauer, Seubert & Associates, and Triad Engineering.
Maintaining a Proactive Culture
As general contractors, it is our job to have a proactive culture with regards to safety on the job site, remembering always that the well-being of everyone involved in the project is our primary responsibility.
An example of this occurred recently at The Waldorf School in Bloomfield, a city-designated historic landmark from the late 1800s that was converted into a school/daycare facility. Landau was hired to do renovations which included the removal of a three-story brick chimney. Before construction began, the local EMS was invited to tour the site in order to become familiar with the building and the layout. By touring the facility, the local fire department and EMS services became familiar with the site which enabled them to develop a plan on how to reach employees quickly and what equipment they would need on hand.

2017 Evening of Excellence
We are thrilled to announce that our project at Allegheny Country Club won the 2016 MBA Best in Craftsmanship Award!
We want to thank Justin Kolanz, John Means, and Bill Paul from Allegheny Country Club, as well as Dave Urbansky and Jim Wallis from Perspectus Architecture for your patience and design ideas throughout construction. Of course, the project could never have been successful without Superintendent Emory Lukacs and Project Manager Andrew Marsic, both of whom displayed extraordinary dedication and perseverance throughout the renovations. It felt like every day presented a new challenge for the team, but it was handled efficiently and professionally. A special thank you to Wayne Crouse, Renick Brothers, and Sargent Electric for going above and beyond, always willing to lend a hand and offer their own ideas to make the construction process more efficient. Our team really made this a personal effort, which truly made it a success.
2016 MBA Awards
We would like to announce that our renovation project at Allegheny Country Club is a finalist for the MBA Best in Craftsmanship Award! The basement level in the main clubhouse was demolished and transformed into a new fitness area, Pro Shop, golf bag storage/repair area, and wine cellar/tasting room. A new staircase that matches the existing stairs was installed from the first floor receptionist area to the the basement level. Extensive mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades, replacements, and relocations were also included. The project was designed to modernize the club while maintaining the original 1902 design, and extra attention focused on the finishes matching the existing club as closely as possible. In doing so, the transformation of the space is truly remarkable and flows with the original designs beautifully.
New Hires
Landau would like to welcome two new members to the team! John Kamer is our newest Project Manager, and Gus Lauro is our newest Project Engineer.
John Kamer comes to Landau with thirty years in the industry. He is a graduate of Penn State with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering. He previously managed public school construction work in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Maryland.
John was raised in Saxonburg, PA, where he currently resides with his wife, two daughters, son, and yorkie. He loves hockey (Go Pens!), cooking, and music, particularly jazz, blues, and jam bands.
Passavant Hospital Foundation Scrub Run
Throughout the past year, Landau Building Company is proud to have worked closely with and supported the Passavant Hospital Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises funds to develop new hospital services and facilities at UPMC Passavant in McCandless and Cranberry townships as well as to provide health education and programming for the community. We worked with the Foundation for our annual Customer Appreciation Shoot in 2015 and 2016, with all proceeds benefiting the organization, and they are truly hardworking, wonderful individuals. Back in August, the Foundation hosted a 4K/8K Scrub Run/Walk at North Park. Landau sponsored two water tables for the runners and walkers, and some of our employees participated in the event. It was a great time for us and for the community!
