2011 MBA Building Excellence Award – Best New Construction Under $10 Million
Originally built by Landau Building Company in 1996, Orchard Hill Church needed additional space due to the growing needs of its church community. Landau was chosen as construction manager for the $4 million, 30,000 SF Children’s Ministry expansion. The project included a new gymnasium, expanded lobby, and additional space for its children's ministry. The biggest challenge was keeping the church open during construction. Orchard Hill is extremely busy, even during the week. In addition, the Orchard Hill summer church camp was held over a three week period with upwards of 1,500 children and adults utilizing the facility during construction. The Landau team kept the project on track, while at the same time providing a safe environment and no interruption of church activities.
"During construction, I was really impressed with Landau’s project managers and site superintendent, along with several subcontractors. There was an overarching attitude of “do the job right” when it could easily have been “it’s on the drawing that way so build it.”
Kevin Cotter, Chief Financial Officer at Orchard Hill Church
