The new 57,000 SF United Hospital Center's Orthopaedic and Spine Center located in Bridgeport, WV, combines the hospital departments of Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, Spine Care, Pain Management, and Rehabilitation into one facility. The project was designed by Gresham Smith & Partners and was built by Marks-Landau Construction. The facility is a single story ground-up construction that began March 2014 and was finished March 2015. The new medical office building, with over two hundred rooms, was designed to match the existing hospital’s exterior. Landau sampled different vendors and built mock-ups of the exterior brick walls to ensure the closest match possible. The HVAC system was very specialized and was a major component of the project. Since the completion of this facility Marks-Landau has been awarded the next phase of construction at UHC, the Physician’s Office Building office suite renovation on the fourth floor of the main hospital.
