Located in Weston, West Virginia, the William R. Sharpe, Jr. Hospital is a 150 bed acute care psychiatric facility that needed more space. Marks-Landau Construction, a wholly owned subsidiary of Landau Building Company was selected to build a fifty-bed addition to the hospital. The 31,000 SF addition includes two nursing units, shared dining and group/visitation/consultation rooms, forensic admissions department, external courtyards, and office space for support staff. Renovations were also done to the existing loading dock area. Construction began in May 2013 and was completed in less than one year. The existing hospital was in full operation during construction, which required careful planning of logistics to maintain smooth daily operations. The safety of hospital personnel, as well as on-site workers, was paramount.
